Addiction

Addiction:

Working with clients who have addiction issues frequently includes the involvement of family other treatment provides, but most of all the commitment of the individual.

My treatment methods do not follow a “12-step” program, but one is often recommended as an adjunct to counseling, depending on the personality of the client.

Addiction is such a powerful force that many addicts, whether struggling with alcohol, illegal or prescription drugs, seem to have a mental block to the wreckage they create in their own lives until they wreck it all. They may lose their spouse, their job, their friends and sometimes are financially destitute before their insight “kicks in.”

Addiction is a powerful force. If you or someone you care about is saddled with this problem, get them into treatment. The slow crescendo of collateral damage to the addict’s life DOES NOT require them to destroy their lives to change the problem.
